This book is FANTASTIC!!
I laughed! I cried! I howled! I groaned! (I REALLY groaned when I read the Two Steves reviews!) It’s a fantastic little book, filled with wise and witty observations about parenthood, marriage, life and all that comes with it. And having read your columns all these years, I find it especially satisfying to sit down and immerse myself in a full collection of the best of them. A gem.
What a gift to discover that a book of Steve’s work exists. Like a pebble in a pond Steve has influenced and changed so many lives for the better. Steve can be relied on for humor and wisdom. Thank you for making this book available. I will treasure it.
I don’t need to read the book – I read the columns – and LOVED them. Since we haven’t subscribed to the paper for a few years I missed reading Steve’s column. Time marched on – and today reading his column on-line I remembered how much I missed it.
Thanks Steve!
Through his humorous and heartfelt stories, Steve reminds us to laugh at the little, and sometimes, big things in life that we may otherwise fail to stop, chuckle, and take a little less seriously. Steve has taught me to live life with a bit more finesse and to cherish and love the imperfections and ridiculous quarks that help define us all.
I have read the Pacific Northwest (and its various incarnations) for decades and thoroughly enjoyed reading Steve’s “Sunday Punch” columns. It was always a joy to read. Although I’m a woman, I loved the way he referred to his wife, The Truly Unpleasant Mrs. Johnston, probably because I knew my husband frequently saw me in the same light plus we could read between the lines the love in which Steve said it. I would frequently read out loud portions of Steve’s columns to my husband which garnered a laugh from him as well. I’ve missed Steve’s writings so I’m very happy to read there is now a collection available. When I asked my husband if I should get the hard or paperback he said without hesitation, the hardback of course. My check is going out in today’s mail. I’m looking forward to reading Steve’s stories again and I know I’ll be laughing again. Thank you Johnston family for sharing your lives with your readers.
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Steve. I only knew him through his writing yet I still miss him and his wit. Thank you for putting this book together, it was wonderful reading the columns again.
